I was very disappointed about the results of the draw, but the draw was not a total surprise.
I was disappointed because thousands of temporary residents have been waiting in limbo for months for a draw to be done in the Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Class, many have seen their savings dissipate, many have ran out of time on their work permits, many are on the brink of returning home and some had to return home. Everyone had been waiting anxiously for the much anticipated draw, only to have the first draw be set so high, disqualifying many who have points in the 300-400 range be disappointed.
As disappointed as I am, I was not surprised by this draw, clearly the draw was done to buy the Minister some time to continue to clear the existing backlog, while still finding a way to keep his word to the public. Shame on the Immigration Minister for getting everyone’s hope high, only to let them down.
For those who did receive an invitation, we say congrats on your next step to becoming a permanent resident. For those who are still waiting for their invitation, let’s continue to hope that you will be in the next draw.
Until then…I hope the Minister provides updated information regarding the extension on PGWPs for temporary residents with an expired permit, he did say information would come in the summer of 2022, well we are in July, August is right around the corner…when will the information come out?
